1. When did you begin rowing?
September 1966 with St. Joseph’s College RC
2. Why?
A good friend persuaded me to try the sport.
3. Have you a favourite seat?
Bow seat in any boat.
4. What was your top challenge?
Rowing with Tribesmen RC in Lilla Edet near Gothenburg at the 1987 World Masters Regatta. We returned with Gold medals in A Coxed 4’s and B Coxed 4’s. In Bled 1986, we were the first Irish Club to row in the event and came home with a Silver medal. We learned fast.
5. What would you like to learn to improve?
Looking for the perfect stroke. I’m still trying.
6. Favourite spin?
Rowing on the Charles river in Boston at the Head of the Charles Regatta.
7. What do you love most about rowing?
The excruciating pain that is part and parcel of winning a close 2,000 meter race.
