Rowing Development at Tribesmen Rowing Club
Learn to Row (LTR)
Adults with no prior rowing experience may apply to the club to take part in LTR training camps.
LTR is organised in early summer in small groups, generally over a series of weekends or evenings.
As LTR is an intensive process which can only take place in small groups for safety reasons, places are limited.
Please check upcoming LTR classes by contacting the Club Secretary
Learner Development
For those who have completed LTR and want to continue rowing with the club.
You will develop your rowing skills in stable boats through regular weekly rowing sessions coxed by experienced rowers, with occasional skill reviews by a rowing coach.
Ongoing Development
For those who have well established basic rowing skills in stable boats and at least one year’s experience of rowing on a regular basis.
You can opt to continue to develop your rowing skills to be able to row in quads, doubles and singles as well as sweep fours and eights by participating in development camps.
Development camps are held each year, with entry subject to an assessment of prior rowing skills.
Entry to Recreational or Competitive Rowing
Rowers who have participated regularly in learner development for at least one year and have successfully completed at least one rowing development camp may apply to the Rowing Sub-Committee to join Recreational Rowing or Competitive Rowing, subject to an assessment of their rowing skills.
Independent Rowing
Those classified by the Rowing Sub-Committee as fully competent independent rowers can book boats and row independently if they wish. Independent rowers must inform the Captain or Head Coach if they are planning to go out in a single shell unaccompanied and should go out with other rowers when possible.
